Confessions of a Yogi: Cat & Cow or Gorilla?

Has this ever happened to you: You go through your yoga class, moving asanas, vinyasa’s, balance postures, you get to your last vinyasa, move into your seated postures, and you notice all of a sudden when your in cat and cow that your wrists are screaming! Today in the class I teach we were all working really hard, sweating, having a great time, and when we got to cat and cow I noticed this sensation in my wrists. Instead of going through the normal cat and cow, I asked the students to make a fist with their hands and punch the ground, coming into GORILLA instead! Ohms, and Ahs, were heard all around. By making a fist we took the pressure off of wrists while still strengthening the arms! Also, if you try gorilla (which I suggest you do) you will find that you will get more height out of that middle part of your spine, further stretching it, Excellent!
